Ever since Noah arrived I have taken a serious interest in making things. Lucky for me I am surrounded in talented and inspirational people who want to create as a group, learn from one another, and share individual talents. My girlfriend told me the other day she has never made a quilt before and doesn't think she has the patience. So when I host "Not your mama's craft night"we are going to be making Doll quilts. Quick, handmade, and full of personality. They are so cute when you join a group of them together hanging above a bed, kitchen table, your living room couch, or covering an entire wall.

That's really cute!

I have talked with friends before about the phenomenon of, after you have kids, wanting to make things -- we decided it's because so much of what you do as a Mom is constantly undone, it's nice to have *something* concrete and lasting to show for your time.

I've also noticed that a lot of women lose interest in sewing and crafts when they're kids get older, which kind of depresses me since I look forward to having more time for sewing and don't want to lose interst before then.

Have you heard of Etsy.com? It's a website where you can buy and sell handmade things. You should definitely participate there!

On the other hand, I really think you should post a few HOW TOs of the things you make or at least a link to the places you figure out how do this great things.

I'd love to learn how to do what you do! Please, enlighten us on your creative ways!

Wow, Chelsea-I'm so impressed. You and Carli are so good sewing-and many other things! I would love to learn how to do that, if only I could figure out how to thread my old hand-me-down machine!

Can you please move back already so we can do "not your mama's craft night" here and teach me the ropes? I still need updates on how to make those shirts. I'm desperate, they are adorable. I need them!
