Sewing

Thursday's have become my new favorite day of the week. My totally talented girlfriend Carrie invites me over every Thursday, we sew, eat lunch, and just hang out. She gives me tips and ideas, it's great. Anyway, yesterday she showed me how to make a baby dress using a wrap kimono shirt. It's supposed to be really long like a gown. I still need to add a ribbon or two but I am really happy with the way it turned out!

My new book

First off I want to thank Barbara and John for putting together this amazing book! It's like a dream come true for me and something I will cherish the rest of my life. I have always tried to keep a journal so one day when I am old and crazy (Or dead) my children can read my childhood memories and see my life as it once was. Lucky for me my Grandmother Hall actually did this, then my cousins turned it into one big book, and now I am reading the best book of my life! I feel as if she is here again and telling me so many awesome stories including her mother plucking the feathers off of a chicken, how amazing it was getting indoor plumbing, and stories of her father walking to work! She is such a great story teller. It is so fun reading about her life and her feelings. I'm only 25 pages in and already feeling so very grateful for this amazing book! She was such an amazing and inspiring person, I just love (And miss) my Grandma!

Class of 2008

What a wonderful day, it felt so good to be there. We were so glad to have all our family here to show their support, and I must say that Dave looked pretty hot in that gown!

We are so proud of you Dave! Awesome job... JD!

Who do you think will win?

I can't wait for tonight's big finale! I haven't yet decided whether to watch it live or to DVR it so I can fast forward through the long repeatative stuff. I'm rooting for David Archuleta. Half way because he's from my home state and half way because he does have an amazing voice. He really never misses a note. Who do you think should, or will win?

Lakers close in 6!

Once again the Lakers are in the western conference finals... where they should be. The Lakers defeated the Jazz (My hometown team) 108 to 105 victory. The game started out with the Lakers on fire. They were up at one point by 19, but the Jazz were resilient and powered back within 3. However Kobe Bryant took over (As usual) in the last 2 minutes to pull out the win. We as a Lakers Family are stoked! ... And Noah is glad to see Kobe as MVP!

My birthday was great! We went to breakfast at ihop, then we went to the beach, and then dinner at Cheesecake factory. My birthday cake was banana cheesecake and it was SO yummy. I got a serger, a Nordstrom gift card, a new purse, and some cash. Dave graduates tomorrow and today he received his gifts. We got him a new mountain bike. It's kind of a new hobby he picked up. He was borrowing a bike every time he went so he was super excited to get his own. Noah and me also got him a skateboard so he could freshen up some old hidden talents. I guess you could say it was a good day for Dave. My Family is here and we are already partying. I love so much when they are here!

My two guys

I was looking through my pictures and came across this one. I love Noah's super fat face and Dave's handsome face! I am anticipating this Saturday when he graduates from law school. I can't believe we actually made it. Dave has worked really hard and I am one proud girlie, I feel so lucky that he is mine! I just love my two guys.

Proud new owner

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch, watching Oprah when I heard the UPS man knock at the door. I thought to myself "Hmmm I didn't order anything" so I opened the door and what do I see? A big box with a picture of a Singer serger on the side! Then panic sets in. My birthday isn't for 2 days and I know Dave didn't mean for me to receive this already! I signed for it and then sent Dave a text letting him know what happened. He responded "Oh no, uh don't look at it anymore and erase it from your mind!" Then he called me and told me that he doesn't even know what a seger is but "Happy birthday!" So I already put it to good use and made myself some seriously sweet pajama pants last night. I feel spoiled lately with Mothers day and my birthday so close together! I didn't email this one to Dave he just remembered! So Kelly and Carrie (I know you read but don't have time to comment) I am officially ready to sew and serg whenever you are!

Lucky me

Dave got me this darling clock for Mothers Day! We have this new kind of deal where if I want a particular thing and a holiday is coming up he tells me "Email me" and I do, and lucky me I usually receive what I want! It worked for Christmas and for Mothers day... can't wait to see what I get for my birthday! Dave you are the BEST!

Clock found on Etsy.

Makeover

I went to Salvation army yesterday and found out that it's my new favorite store for finding old ugly things and making them over! I found this shadow box for $7.00 filled with a horribly ugly lighthouse, fake seagulls, and rocks (Which I had Dave tear out) but I knew it had potential.

And now it holds our keys. Much better huh?

I also found this old mirror for $4.00. I immediately knew this puppy had potential.

I am pretty happy with the way they turned out! I had such a great day because I was so excited about getting these projects finished!

Hawaii

Hawaii was so great. Ben and Lynn were the best hosts. When we arrived she gave us gift bags filled with lip gloss, delicious chocolates, mints, and lots of other yummy stuff. We spent our days laying on the beach, driving around the island, eating, shopping, and hanging out. I was sad Dave wasn't able to be there and see all the beautiful places, but him and I decided we will just have to go back again soon. Ben was a great babysitter. We left him 2 nights with ALL the kids and when we arrived home they were all sound asleep. I like to call him the "Baby whisperer!" Lynn turned the big 30 when we were in town and she had a raging party that included a balloon artist, we requested a Kobe Bryant Lakers player for Noah but the balloon artist grabbed the wrong color for his skin, so we decided it was Luke Walton instead! The trip was very eventful and fun! Thanks SO much to the Westbrooks for an awesome vacation!

We're back

Hawaii was awesome. More pictures to come...
